Slack: generate an incoming webhook URL from Slack's app settings, connect it, and alerts appear as messages in your chosen channel.
Once wired up, you don't think about it again — the alert just shows up where you already are.

- Ideally, a recovery alert too, so you know when it's back without checking manually
